"The Academy values the traditions of foreign students" - Svetlana Kosareva

15 March 2017 16:15

Every year from the middle of March, the people of Azerbaijan and Iran celebrate Novruz's favorite holiday. Novruz-Bayram is a holiday of the coming of spring and renewal of nature, which is a symbol of the new year. Celebrations last for a week, including March 20 and 21, the vernal equinox.

Many students from Azerbaijan and Iran study at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management. This year, as always, they decided to share their traditions and attracted the employees, students of the Academy and the leadership of the Institute of International Education headed by the director Svetlana Kosareva to the celebration.

On March 14, students from Azerbaijan and Iran told about a special ceremony of kindling a fire. According to the tradition of the holiday in the evening, each family lights up as many torches as there are members of the family. Being away from their families, foreign students consider the second family to be the Academy, so that evening, together with the teachers, they lit related lights. According to custom, each in turn had to jump over a burning fire, uttering special words. After the fire went out, everyone collected ash and poured it out onto the road. That's right, Azerbaijanis and Iranians are freed from the failures of last year.

«The Academy appreciates the traditions of foreign students and fully supports them. That's why today we are celebrating Novruz: leaders, students! In general, this kind of events contribute to raising awareness of IAPM students about the cultures of different nations of the world. However, the most important aspect of supporting the traditions of foreign students is the assistance of the community of nations and the development of tolerance for each other, "said Svetlana Kosareva.

A special feature of the celebration this year was the launching of air torches into the sky as a symbol of hope, faith and love.
