On September 12, the Odessa National Science Library hosted a meeting of first-year students of the Odessa Institute with Natalia Dzubenko-Mace—writer, publicist, member of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine, winner of Oles Honchar All-Ukrainian Literary Prize (2000), Panteleimon Kulish Prize (2019), the author of numerous studies on Holodomor and Ukrainian history, the widow of American and Ukrainian researcher James Ernest Mace (1952—2004).

Oleksa Riznykiv—poet, novelist, publicist, linguist, social activist, dissident, prisoner of conscience, member of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine and winner of many literary awards—also visited the event.

The warm-hearted story of acquaintance, life, and conversations of Natalia and her husband impressed everyone.

On Thursday, November 4th, the world will celebrate the Holodomor Remembrance Day. It was James who proposed to introduce the tradition of lighting a candle that day.

Natalia Mace's memoirs are an invaluable treasure that the author gladly shared with the audience. Guests also had a unique opportunity to hear poems written by the author. Her poetry is full of grace and tragedy, Bible stories, historical facts, and an optimistic outlook. Besides, Mrs. Mace shared her ideas and intrigued everyone with her new work, which will become another unique study of Ukrainian history.

Freshmen received reader tickets to further visits to the library.
