Students of the Khmelnytsky Institute honored Holodomor victims

29 November 2017 13:23

On November 24, the Khmelnytsky Institute hosted a rally-requiem "Holodomor: Revenge for Freedom" in memory of the Holodomor victims of 1932-1933.

The fourth Saturday of November in our country is a memorial day for the victims of imperial violence over the Ukrainian, including the Holodomor of 1932-1933. On November 25, on the day of memory, every conscious Ukrainian will light on his windowsill his candle of memory, so that the stars, the souls of the dead, could be seen.

Memory is an endless book in which everything is written: both human life and the life of the country. Many pages are written in blood red. You read and shudder in thought from horror. Particularly striking pages where hung words are hung. No more terrible death than slow death from starvation. And almost all Ukraine was dying.

How can one forget that without the elements, without drought, without war, in the very center of civilized Europe, in Ukraine, shortly before this was the breadbasket of the continent, an unprecedented famine took millions to the grave?

The people of farmers and singers tried to make the people of cannibals and thieves. Instead of human feelings, society has taken over fear - total, humiliating. Fear of being yourself. To speak in his own language, to recall his dead. Fear is the only and total legacy that the system of Stalinist terror left to Ukrainian society. This humiliating inheritance is passed down from generation to generation ... The 1933 token still burns at the head of our being ...

No one will light them. The candle of millions of tortured hungry deaths went out in the distant 1933. We and you can light the candle only for the light memory and to warm the souls of those killed by famine and political repressions.

Let light from the candle fly into the sky

At least one soul will warm at this moment

To this soul has found this lost tranquility

And she went away for eternity to God.

Let each city and village, in each family, old and small, incline their heads before the memory of innocently killed by hunger-genocide, obediently will have to their graves, put a candle in front of the image of God. Let this minute enter our hearts in a quiet prayer, purify our souls from evil.

Let us remember and find in ourselves the strength to follow them along the way of their path of the gods. I do not eat it, but we need it. Everything they could tell the world, they already said. Now our turn.
