IAPM CELEBRATES THE KNOWLEDGE DAY
The day before the onset of fall, the IAPM met again its students having opened them the door to the Knowledge Day.
The Knowledge Day is a special holiday! It is always impressive, imbued with emotionality and a stirring atmosphere. One can hear loud solemn music and warm congratulations coming from everywhere, and each human heart, excited, vibrates to the call of the first bell!
The holiday at the Academy started with a festive service near the chapel of St. George the Victory-Bearer. The service was broadcast to the Knowledge Square, where, under the standards of their institutes, the first year students lined up. IAPM Chancellor, Doctor of Economics, Professor Valeriy Zakhozhaï opened a solemn meeting, having congratulated the students on the beginning of the new academic year. This year, he noted, about 2.5 thousand new students of the day mode of study joined the IAPM students’ ranks. Today, approximately 40 thousand students study overall at Academy’s organization departments in Ukraine and outside its limits.
Chairman of the Academy’s Supervisory Board, Honored Education Worker, Doctor of Science, Professor George Shchokin addressed the freshpersons a word of salutation: “Dear first year students, our dear Ukrainian young folk, I sincerely compliment you on your entry into the almost forty thousand-strong IAPM family, which has always been notable for its courage, originality, and genuine thirst for knowledge. Today, the IAPM is becoming part of your lives, your Alma Mater, under whose wing you will not only get higher education but also find true friendship and unforgettable love. We wish all your desires and dreams to become a reality. Success be to your efforts on this way and may God prosper you!”
During the function, Hero of Ukraine, national deputy of Ukraine Levko Lukianenko and Chairman of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Borys Oliynyk presented a token student card to the first year students.
This holiday would have been impossible without the higher reaches of academic life – professors, assistant professors, and instructors. A wealth of experience, deep and comprehensive knowledge, state-of-the-art technologies – all this will be devolved to the freshers.
The students themselves also celebrate this day: dancing group “The Pearl,” pupils of the lycée “Prestige” and song studio “Gloria,” which, by tradition, sang the Academy’s alma mater, performed in the Knowledge Square.
The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management makes much of national and patriotic upbringing of youth. The Academy sees its objective in training young people not only to be specialists in possession of modern knowledge but also to become spiritual, harmoniously developed personalities. Outstanding Ukrainians were invited to speak before students – politicians, scholars, poets, and writers. Following the initiation into the student body, all first years will hear their first lecture – “WE ARE UKRAINIANS.”
Numerous honorary guests came to solemnize the Knowledge Day, among them: advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostiantyn Vashchenko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykhailo Holytsia, Chairman of the Ukrainian Culture Fund, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, writer Borys Oliynyk, national deputy of Ukraine Yuriy Miroshnichenko, Honored Coach of Ukraine, President of the All-Ukrainian Student Football Association Vitaliy Pelypenko and others.
This day, the Academy cordially welcomed within its walls representatives of the diplomatic corps, honorary guests from other countries of the world, with which and whom the Academy have successfully cooperated, among them: Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Republic of Iraq Mr. Halid Jasim Al-Shamari, counselor of the Embassy of the Azerbaijani Republic to Ukraine Ms. Eghiana Kavkazly, trade and economic consultant of the Republic of Cuba in Ukraine Nelida Guerra Moreira, counselor of the Embassy of Palestine to Ukraine Mr. Mobarek Moussa, chancellor of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Ukraine Mr. Nguyen Van Long, chancellor of the Embassy of Malaysia to Ukraine Mr. Ruzaimi Mohamad, second secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Mr. Edward Vertianov, representative of the Consular Division of the Embassy of the Republic of Lebanon to Ukraine Mr. Tony Gemayel, Consul of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Ukraine Mr. Shehu Yusuf.
Distinguished Ukrainian athletes studying at the IAPM also came this day to greet the first-year students: merited sport master of strongest men multiathlon, world champion of 2004 and 2007, student of the IAPM Institute of Management and Business Vasyl’ Virastiuk, champion of the Olympic Games, national deputy of Ukraine Elbrus Tedeyev, merited sport master, repeated Europe and world champion, freestyle wrestling champion of the Olympic Games-2004 in Athens, student of the IAPM Institute of Management and Business Irina Merleni. They congratulated the first years on the Knowledge Day that opens the world of scholastic attainments, as well as on the festival of youth and hope for those, whose cross the Academy’s threshold for the first time in their lives.
