The visit took place to develop the contacts established between representatives of the IAPM and the University of Nicosia. Moreover, of course, to tell applicants about the University and future prospective, that opens to them in the nearest future, after graduating with a Dual Diploma of IAPM and the University of Nicosia.

Dr. Pavlou told us about the University of Nicosia, about its collaboration with various countries, and, of course, about its cooperation with IAPM.

Dr. Pavlou, may you tell us about the University of Nicosia?

The University of Nicosia is located in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, an island that lies at the crossroads of three continents. The University has become a global education centre. International in philosophy, the University hosts students from all over the world, in a multicultural learning environment, promoting friendship, cooperation and understanding. The University of Nicosia is the largest non-governmental university in Cyprus. It has more that 5 thousands students. It has 28 Bachelor degrees, 5 Master degrees and 1 PhD degree. There are more than 3 hundred Ph.D faculties at the University. It is a very large university, compare to the size of Cyprus. Cyprus is a small country, less than a million inhabitants. However, the University is a National university. It has collaboration with many countries. The University’s Doctoral, Master and Bachelor Degrees are equivalent to all other degrees awarded by American, British and other European universities. One of the main collaborations, of course, is Ukraine – with the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.

Dr. Pavlou, you have told that University of Nicosia has a lot of faculties and specialties, what are they?

There are 4 schools now, and there’re going to be the 5th school soon. Therefore, it’s the School of Business with all the business-related degrees: marketing, advertising, accounting, business administration, the MBA degree etc. We have the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law with psychology, education degrees, architecture degree, the humanities and law degrees. We also have the School of Sciences with engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science.

We have the human biology, pre-medical degree. And now we’re creating the medical degree in collaboration with the St. George University of London.

We have the School of Education, which has such specializations as School Teachers, Pre-School Education, Special Education, Theory, Practice and Evaluation of Teaching and also Music and Dance department.

May you tell us more about the collaboration between the University of Nicosia and IAPM?

This is an example of how universities, in few years are going to work. This is an example of how many cultural, and even historical, links between Ukraine and Cyprus are combined. The only way to access the students is through the collaboration with the universities that are based in different countries. So, if a student studies here, in IAPM, it would be equivalent of the courses as if he studied at the University of Nicosia. And in the same time, if he studied at the University of Nicosia, it would be equivalent of the courses as if he studied in IAPM.

Which advantages would it open to those students who decide to join up this new program provided by the University of Nicosia and IAPM?

After joining the European Union Cyprus have a European degrees.

Those students, who decide to join-up the Dual Degree program, will have the Ukrainian and the European degree as if they had studied in both countries. It will wider their career perspectives and open the whole world of opportunities for them.

Another advantage for them will be the opportunity to have some experience to spend the semester or even a year in Cyprus. It will also give them chance to improve their English language knowledge. For the first and the second year of study they will  choose the language of studying: Ukrainian, Russian, English, Greek.

Employers, afterwards, are looking for employees with European education, so it brings the future benefits for the students.

In addition, the main advantage, as for the students, also for their parents, is that education does not cost as much as in Cyprus. The tuition fees at the University of Nicosia is about up to 5,000 € a year. Here it’s about up to 2,000 €. They will save also on the accommodation cost: you stay here, where your home, your parents are live, you don’t have to leave your country.

So it’s a great prospective to get European degree staying at home country.

What are your aspirations about the collaboration between two educational institutions – the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management and the University of Nicosia?

First of all, we already had fundamental talks held on a wide range of issues concerning projects of integrated educational programs for the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees courses, student and teacher exchange, the training of MBA and Ph.D specialists, joint research activities, elaboration and development of short-term educational programs and professional development programs, scientific, educational and cultural cooperation. We’re planning to expand our cooperation to many different ways: experience exchange, students exchange etc.

We expect the long-term, efficient and skilled cooperation in future.
