Celebration of St. Andrew's vechornytsi

14 December 2018 12:45

Students of the 1st year of IAPM Danube branche had a unique opportunity to participate in the traditional celebration of St. Andrew's Evenings. Among the greatest winter holidays, the most fun and most anticipated was Andriy's Day, December 13, when, according to the Ukrainian tradition, the youth gathered in the same house at the so-called "big" evening vechornytsi, arranging all sorts of fun and devotion there. The girls divined, and the young men, braving themselves, worshiped and chose a pair for themselves.

Actually, the feast is celebrated in honor of the apostle Andrew Pervozvannyi, who is considered not only as the patron of the Ukrainian Church, but also honored as the founder of Kyiv.

Thank you very much to the museum staff for inviting and organizing such a wonderful excursion.
