Female students` impressions from the beginning of participation the Erasmus+ program at the Academy of Social and Media Culture in Toruń (Poland)
"First of all, I would like to thank the administration of our Academy, as well as the host party, for the opportunity to become participants in the Erasmus+ exchange program. We really appreciate the support and are grateful for the chance to gain invaluable experience.
The student exchange program helps establish international ties and cooperation. As program participants, we have the opportunity to exchange ideas with our colleagues from different parts of the world, expanding our worldview and opening up new opportunities for our future careers.
This is an unforgettable experience, an opportunity to immerse ourselves in a new culture and understand the mentality of foreign people. Studying here allows us to learn languages, enrich our knowledge, broaden our horizons It also contributes to personal growth and the development of intercultural competence, because we learn to adapt to a new environment, develop tolerance and openness to other cultures, which is extremely important in the modern world.
This program not only provides unique opportunities for learning and professional growth, but also promotes the development of international cooperation and intercultural understanding. It is considered to be an important tool in the formation of conscious citizens ready for the challenges of the 21st century.
Our integration week was quite eventful. We walked around the city a lot, enjoyed the architecture, met many new people and even managed to make new friends.
We visited the Gingerbread Museum, where we learned about the traditions of baking Toruń gingerbread, the history of the city, medieval culture and language.
After the museum, we were invited to dinner to taste traditional Polish cuisine. We talked with new classmates from different countries about culture and art, shared our own experiences and discussed the details of our studies.
We had the opportunity to meet interesting people from countries such as Spain, Georgia, Palestine, Kosovo, Peru and many others. All the people around us are incredibly friendly and kind, local students are very welcoming and willing to help us integrate into the new environment.
We talk a lot about Ukraine, our history and culture, share experiences and dreams. Understanding that not much is known about Ukraine abroad gives us the motivation to show Ukraine from different angles, to dispel false theses and narratives.
In February, we also attended the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the second anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion.
The event was aimed at expressing solidarity and unwavering support, which we need now more than ever.
At the recent conference "Media Image of War", we analyzed and researched the influence of the media on the state of the conflict of Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2022-2024. They emphasized the importance of global support and opposition to propaganda.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share our thoughts and be heard, it is very gratifying and motivating.
There are still a lot of interesting things ahead, and we are looking forward to starting our studies.
We are happy to continue discovering Polish culture and sharing our own."
