Open lecture on different types of addictions, their psychological causes and consequences for people and society
On October 9, 2024, a lecture was held at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, organized by the IAPM Student Government together with the USL CEP. The guest of the meeting was Denis Starkov, PhD in Psychology, Medical Psychologist, Researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and a specialist in the psychological aspects of addictions.
The lecture was devoted to an extremely relevant topic - addictions. Denys Starkov spoke in detail about different types of addictions, their psychological causes and consequences for individuals and society. He emphasized that addictions can be not only to chemical substances, such as alcohol or drugs, but also to behavioral factors, such as gambling or Internet addictions.
Particular attention was paid to the mechanisms of addiction development and ways to overcome them. The lecturer explained how important it is to identify addictions in a timely manner and seek help from specialists, emphasizing the role of family and close environment in supporting a person.
The students had the opportunity to actively participate in the discussion, ask questions and share their opinions. The lecture aroused great interest, as the topic of addiction affects various aspects of our lives - from personal to professional.
The organizers of the event expressed their gratitude to Denys Starkov for his in-depth analysis of the problem and practical advice, and emphasized the importance of holding such meetings to improve psychological literacy among students.
