MAUP at the Heart of Developing Future Competencies: Human Capital, Leadership, and Soft Skills in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
The Soft Skills Summit 2026 served not only as a large-scale professional platform for exchanging experiences but also as a space for reflecting on one of the key questions in modern education: What competencies will determine a person’s professional success in the era of rapid artificial intelligence development?
Of particular significance in this context is the participation in the summit of Natalia Golovach and Anna Kuzmenko - representatives of the leadership of the Department of Human Capital and Leadership at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.
For the department, such participation is a natural fit, as its activities are directly linked to the development of human capital, leadership, managerial competencies, communication culture, and modern approaches to collaboration within organizations.
At the same time, the significance of this work extends far beyond the scope of any single educational program or major.
As a cross-disciplinary department, the MAUP Department of Human Capital and Leadership works with students from various majors and educational levels. That is why the development of soft skills—critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, responsibility, adaptability, initiative, and leadership—is a vital component of training future professionals, regardless of their chosen field.
Human Competencies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is already changing the nature of professions, automating processes, and transforming the requirements for today’s professionals.
At the same time, as technology advances, competencies with a distinctly human dimension are becoming increasingly important:
- critical thinking;
- emotional intelligence;
- leadership;
- effective communication;
- the ability to engage in constructive dialogue;
- teamwork;
- adaptability;
- responsible decision-making;
- the ability to build trust.
It is precisely these competencies that are increasingly becoming the strategic capital of individuals and organizations.
Modern professional success is determined not only by the level of professional knowledge. Equally important are the ability to work with people, interact constructively within a team, critically evaluate information, make informed decisions, take initiative, adapt to change, and take responsibility for results.
Therefore, soft skills today are not merely a supplement to professional knowledge, but an essential prerequisite for professional resilience, competitiveness, and the ability to operate effectively in an environment of constant change.
Combining professional education with the development of communication skills, personal maturity, and leadership potential makes it possible to produce not only a qualified specialist but also an independent, responsible, and adaptable graduate capable of performing effectively in today’s professional environment and continuously developing.
The participation of IAPM representatives in the Soft Skills Summit 2026 reinforces this effort by creating opportunities for professional exchange with Ukrainian and international experts, analyzing current trends, and implementing modern approaches into the broader academic educational landscape.
Today’s students expect more than just fundamental knowledge from a higher education institution. Equally important is access to a real-world professional environment, modern practices, expert communities, and competencies that will determine future professional success.
For MAUP, this direction is of particular importance, as the development of human potential, management culture, and leadership competencies is directly linked to the training of professionals capable of responding to contemporary social and professional challenges.
MAUP - where the future of professions is shaped.
