Psychological profiling: development in Ukraine

30 October 2017 16:28

On October 28, 2017, a seminar on psychological profiling took place at the Poltava Center for Distance Learning at IAPM. It is one of the modern trends in the development of psychological science in the world.

This technique of psychological research was known in the middle of the twentieth century and was successfully applied in the jurisprudence and the activities of the intelligence services of Israel and the United States of America. Later, psychological profiling became widespread in European countries. In Ukraine, he became known only at the beginning of the 21st century, but is still at the level of individual psycho training and personal interests of psychologists.

As Olesya Gorgota noted, acting Director of the Poltava Center for Distance Learning, "The need to develop psychological profiling is evident, as it is important in the epoch of the information society to be able to distinguish between copies and originals in all spheres of society development: politics, business, management, etc. Profiling is becoming the main tool for detecting and warning lies."

The questions raised at the seminar were interesting to the audience. In particular, Irina Ivleva, chairman of the Poltava regional union of psychotherapists, noted the importance and importance of the development of profiling in various spheres of life. However, this topic puts more questions than answers. It requires deep and meaningful development. "Must also take into account the mental models and settings of Ukrainian society, according to which we must develop psychological directions", - stressed the therapist.

Other representatives of the Psychotherapists Union of Poltava Region who participated in the seminar were glad to respond to the establishment of cooperation with the IAPM psychologists. Psychologists, teachers from other higher educational institutions of Poltava - the State Agrarian Academy and the University of Economics and Trade (PUT) - participated in the seminar.

A pleasant surprise for the organizers of the seminar was the active participation of the students of the Odessa Institute of MAUP who came to the Poltava Center. The MAUP students, from Odessa and Poltava, showed keen interest in a psychological investigation of a lie.

The event became a useful life experience for all participants, and also made it possible to reflect on the possibility of studying psychology at IAPM.
