22 April, near the Memorial sign to the victims of the Chernobyl disaster IAPM students took part in a meeting-requiem "Courage and pain of Chernobyl" in memory of people who died in the Chernobyl accident.

30 years ago, on the night of April 26, 1986, it was the largest in the history of nuclear power accident - a tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. At 1:23 am there was an explosion which completely destroyed the reactor on the fourth power unit of Chernobyl nuclear power plant. As a result large quantities of radioactive substances were released into the environment. The cloud passed over the European part of the USSR, most of Europe, the eastern part of the United States. Approximately 60% of the radioactive fallout fell on the territory of Belarus. About 200 000 people were evacuated from contaminated areas.

Every year in Ukraine people recall this technological and ecological catastrophe of modern times which changed the ecological environment of the world. This year near the Memorial sign to the victims of the Chernobyl tragedy in Goloseyevsky region of Kiev people paid tribute to all the victims at a meeting-requiem. The event was attended by the leadership of State Administration, Deputy Minister - Head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Nikolai Danevych, representatives of public organization "Union of Chernobyl Disabled", students of IAPM.

Archpriest Paul held a service for the liquidators - victims of the Chernobyl disaster. A minute of silence paid tribute to the liquidators who saved the world with their lives.

Eternal memory to all those who gave their lives in defense of the world from the Chernobyl disaster!
