Every year on the third Thursday of November, most countries of the world and the European Union celebrate the International No Smoking Day, established by the American Cancer Society in 1977. Soon people all over the world joined this useful initiative. And later, in 1988, at the suggestion of the WHO, the younger brother of this International Day emerged - the World No Tobacco Day, which is now celebrated on May 31.

WHO statistics are very sad. The tobacco epidemic in the 20th century killed more than 100 million people. In the 21st century, this figure may increase by an order of magnitude. About 63% of all deaths on earth are due to non-communicable diseases. Smoking takes a strong position as a leader in these terrible statistics.

That is why, on the eve of his celebration, a landmark event was held on November 13 by the Khmelnytskyi Center for Healthy Youth of the International Anti-Narcotics Association, a lecture for students of the Khmelnytskyi Economic and Legal College and the Khmelnytskyi Institute of the MAUP on the topic: "Disease Addiction".

The lecture material and accompanying slides were presented in the form of a live debate, during which the student population was informed about the types of addiction, their development and harmful effects on the youth of Ukraine were discussed, and ways of possible help in overcoming disease addiction were outlined.
