Participation of MAUP representatives in the Global Congress on Sustainable Development in Higher Education 2025
On 16–19 June 2025, the Istanbul Congress Centre (Turkey) hosted the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025, organised by Times Higher Education and the Turkish Council of Higher Education, with the participation of over 3,000 leaders in the education sector and sustainable development from over 100 countries around the world.
Among the Ukrainian delegates are IPME Vice-President Mykhailo Goncharenko and Head of the International Cooperation Department Andrii Bozhkov. They represent the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (IPME), sharing Ukrainian experience in the field of sustainable education practices.
The IAPM delegation began its work at the Congress with a meeting with the leadership of the Turkish Council for Higher Education, which is a co-organiser of the Congress. In particular, IAPM Vice-President Mykhailo Goncharenko met with Mustafa Efe, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Council.
As part of the international educational event, Vice-President of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (MAUP) Mykhailo Goncharenko held a series of constructive meetings with leading scientists and university administrators from around the world.
In particular, a meeting was held with Professor Anderson Shum, Vice President for Research and Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, during which opportunities for academic mobility, joint research in engineering and interdisciplinary scientific initiatives were discussed.
The IAPM delegation also held talks with the heads and representatives of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The University of Auckland (New Zealand), Queen's University (Canada) and the University of Eastern Philippines. The focus was on establishing cooperation in the field of sustainable development, academic exchange, participation in international research grants, and the integration of MAUP educational programmes into the global scientific and educational space.
Over four days, conference participants plan to work in panels, workshops and discussions on six areas key to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including education, energy, climate, health, urban governance and digital innovation.
The IAPM delegation places particular emphasis on international cooperation: working meetings are planned with colleagues from educational institutions in various countries to launch joint projects, exchange programmes and scientific research.
The Congress also focuses on improving the Impact Rankings 2025, which assesses universities in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation.
For MAUP, the participation of its representatives in this event is not only a prestigious international presence, but also a practical platform for the implementation of new initiatives aimed at integrating Ukraine into the European academic environment.
