On October 26-27, 2017, the International Scientific and Practical Conference on Mental Health "Mental Health: Global Challenges of the 21st Century" was held at the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.
The purpose of the conference was to attract the attention of the wide scientific community to the global problems of mental health.
Participation in the conference was attended by representatives from different countries of the world: Algeria, Greece, India, Italy, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Latvia, Ukraine. Among the participants of the conference were also scientists from Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and other cities.
The organizers of the conference are the Center for International Academic Mobility of the IAPM and the Department of Psychology of the Educational-Scientific Institute of International Relations and Social Sciences with the active support of the Center for the organization of scientific work and innovations in the educational process.
The conference was solemnly opened by the rector of MAUP Mykola Nestorovich Kurko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Educational Work of IAPM Mykola Fedorovich Holovaty, Director of the Institute for Educational and Scientific Research of International Relations and Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work Ivan Pavlovich Bidzure, Head of the Center for International Academic Mobility IAPM Viktor Ilarionovich Wus .
- For the Academy it's nice that the participants from so many countries came to our conference. We were also supported by colleagues - teachers of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, Vadym Hetman KNEU, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Lviv Polytechnic National University. The topic of the conference is very relevant for our country. The reasons for this are low mental health, crises, and military conflicts that are reflected in the mental health of the population. I hope that our conference will enter the history of world science with new perspectives on the problem of mental health of the nation and a new vision of the mechanism for its improvement, "said Nikolai Nestorovich Kurko.
The conference was focused on what mental health is, what to do to stay healthy and how to help people with mental illness and disease. The results of the study were presented with an emphasis on what categories of workers were most exposed to professional burnout and how to prevent this, discussed the importance of forming students' critical thinking and other issues.
- As the Worldwide Organization for the Protection of Mental Health emphasizes, the state of mental health issues is an important indicator of social development, since the overall development of people will depend on the quality of mental health of each individual, personality, and person. Also very important is the attitude of people to mentally ill. If we can not change the problem, then we must change our attitude to this problem. We want to change the attitude of people, - said Victor Woos, head of the Center for International Academic Mobility of the IAPM. - It is impossible to solve the problem of mental health within a single country, so we must unite our efforts, first in scientific terms.
Scientists presented their studies, exchanged experiences. Some conference participants from other countries spoke online.
Problems of mental health are not solved only in the area of health care, they must be solved in the social and legal spheres. They can not be solved without social assistance. Scientists have come to the conclusion that it is not necessary to treat diagnoses of a person with mental illness, but to work in a complex manner with a person, to take it for accompaniment.
To maintain mental health is extremely important physical activity, including cleaning, cooking, outdoor walks and morning exercise. But it's equally important that it brings pleasure. It is useful to get social approval from what a person is engaged in in life. But doing sports is useful not only for healthy people, but also for people with mental defects. After all, it is the sport that unites people, and people with mental problems can feel on a par with all.
It is essential and important that, prior to the conference, a special edition of the well-known and authoritative journal "Medicine" (No. 7, 2017) contained extensive materials of the scientific-practical conference, among which more than 20 articles belong to the specialists of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management. "Medical business" is included in the list of science-computer editions, which are indexed by the science-based databases Scopus and Med-line.
