The 12th Debates of the FEMIDA and M:ANGO Clubs took place at the Odessa Institute of PJSC «HEI«IAPM»
On February 27, 2020 at the Odessa Institute of PJSC "HEI"MAUP" the 12th Debates of the FEMIDA and M:ANGO Clubs were held on the topic: "Controlled Information Society: pro et contra".
Participants must stick to the draw position. Yes, this year FEMIDA was "FOR" and M:ANGO "AGAINST". Issues were discussed as to whether the state needed a separate Ministry of Digitization, whether it was advisable to control the Internet for information security, whether legislation could restrict free speech and other issues. After discussing the issues of "For" and "Against", there was a general discussion on "Freedom of Speech and the Challenges of the Hybrid War. Is there a Legislative Ban on "Hate Speech" in the Media".
According to an independent jury, both teams were confident enough and argued their position reasonably. Two of the three members of the jury found the FEMIDA more confident. Now, student science clubs should choose the topic of the next debate.
