A scientific and practical seminar entitled “New Challenges and Trends in the Development of the Tourism Industry in Khmelnytskyi Region” was held

On September 26, 2024, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, as part of the week of the Department of Tourism, Recreation, Cross-Cultural Communication, and Fundamental Training, a scientific and practical seminar entitled “New Challenges and Trends in the Development of the Tourism Industry in Khmelnytskyi Region” was held.

The goal was to develop the professional competencies of the seminar participants by engaging everyone in a dialogue based on the preparation of presentation materials through the prism of local history and the potential of regional tourism.

The seminar was attended by scientists, lecturers, teachers, and higher education students from Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Odesa, and other cities.

Leonid Bilyi, Director of the Khmelnytsky Institute of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, emphasized the importance of professional training for specialists in the tourism industry. Kateryna Burduvalis, Director of the State Archives of the Khmelnytskyi Region, spoke about the scientific potential of the State Archives of the Khmelnytskyi Region in creating tourist routes. Valentina Parandii, Deputy Director of the Khmelnytsky Institute of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, introduced a new author's course, “Military-Historical Tourism in Ukraine”; Svitlana Markova, Head of the Department of Tourism, Recreation, Cross-Cultural Communication, and Fundamental Disciplines, introduced a new author's course, “Animation Studios in Recreational Tourism: Excursions, Quest Excursions,” and noted that to be a tour guide, guide, or tour leader, it is extremely important to not only be able to organize tourists, but also to tell them about landmarks, nature reserves, architectural structures, and garden and park ensembles. It is also important to be able to develop original excursions and quest excursions for war veterans. Olena Kolomiets, associate professor of the Department of Tourism, Recreation, Cross-Cultural Communication, and Fundamental Disciplines, spoke in detail about gastronomic tourism in the Khmelnytskyi region and the specifics of its development. The seminar discussed important issues of tourism animation as an aid in working with military personnel and their families; the specifics of conducting excursions for children with special educational needs; the cross-cultural dimension of tourism in Khmelnytskyi region and the implementation of the concept of sustainable development.
