World Book and Copyright Day - April 23

The day of the book is intended to emphasize the fundamental importance of the book and its indispensability in the information society. One of its main goals is the promotion of reading and book publishing, attracting attention to the culture of the written word, as well as issues of copyright and intellectual property protection. In addition, it is a holiday of authors, publishers, critics, librarians, readers and everyone-all who sometimes remains behind the scenes of book publishing.

On the occasion of the "professional" holiday of the book in the reading room of the library of the Danube branch for the attention of users and all visitors, an exhibition of books "The book is a well, a source of treasures of the soul...".

The exposition presents materials on philosophical and aesthetic self-development and a collection of literature on the regulation of relations in the field of intellectual property. Thus, in particular, readers can see collections of aphorisms "National wisdom", "Thoughts and aphorisms of great people", "To live for the soul, or Long live the world!", practical advisers "Five languages ​​of love", "Psychological tips for every day", "Smile until it's too late. Positive Psychology for Everyday Life", teaching aids "History of World Culture", "Philosophy: An Excursus into the History of Studies and Concepts", "Ethics and Aesthetics: The Legacy of the West. The story of beauty and goodness", as well as the collection "The shortest stories in the world".

It is believed that the Day of the book was celebrated in the first half of the XX century. But since 1996, it is celebrated annually. The idea of ​​its launch belongs to the writer and editor of Valencia Vicente Claveille Andrés. In 1926, Spanish King Alphonse XIII considered his proposal and signed the royal decree, according to which the day of the Spanish book was introduced on October 7 (it was believed that Cervantes was born on that day). In 1930, the Day of the Book in Spain was postponed to April 23, when the writer probably died.

Interestingly, since the 15th century on April 23, there has been St. George's Day, the deputy of Catalonia, also known as the Day of Roses. On this day, men traditionally give women roses, and women to men - books. True, now the customs have changed, and the book can get everyone.
