Honoring the Memory of Famine Victims in Ukraine

Holodomor Victims Memorial Day is an annual national memorial day in Ukraine. 2019, it was November 23. Traditionally, this day citizens attend a funeral service, lay flowers, symbolic pots with grain, and light candles near monuments to victims of famine in Ukraine.

November 22, representatives of the Academy's students honored the memory of victims of famine by a moment of silence, laid flowers at the foot of the monument erected on the territory of the university in order to mourn all the dead in Ukraine from the terrible famine of 1932-1933.

Participants in the memorial event recalled what they knew about the 1921-1923, 1932-1933, 1946-1947 artificially created famine by the Soviet government, as well as quoting excerpts from Vasil Barka's novel The Yellow Prince.
