On September 26, 2023, a scientific and practical seminar with elements of the training "Sign language as a means of communication: socio-psychological aspects" was held at the Khmelnytskyi Institute of the MAUP for the International Day of Sign Languages. The department of psychology acted as organizers.
In the modern world, the idea of equal rights and opportunities for all has become more relevant and is supported by the global community. Day of the Deaf emphasizes the need to ensure equal opportunities for deaf people in all areas of life, including education, employment and access to cultural activities.
Sign language is considered one of the important components of deaf cultural heritage. Day of the Deaf helps to highlight the richness and importance of this language as a cultural component.
Speakers were: Natalia Nikolenko, Head of the Khmelnytskyi regional organization UTOG; Oleksandr Karimovych Rudyk, sign language interpreter of the Khmelnytskyi regional organization UTOG; Dluzhynska Iryna Adolfivna, cult mass worker of the Khmelnytskyi regional organization UTOG; Laura Dmytrivna Ivashchenko, teacher of Ukrainian sign language at Khmelnytskyi special comprehensive school No. 33; Olga Viktorivna Burlaka, teacher of Khmelnytskyi special comprehensive school No. 33.
The training part of the seminar was conducted by Maria Ivanivna Yaremchuk, a teacher of the Department of Psychology of the Khmelnytskyi Institute of the MAUP; a beneficiary of the Khmelnytskyi regional organization UTOG and a psychology student of the 3rd year of the bachelor's degree Ivan Chorny.
