IAPM held a scientific-practical conference "Ukrainian State and the Church"

May 19, Interregional Academy of Personnel Management hosted a scientific-practical conference "Philosophical, theological and practical aspects of cooperation of peoples interests  and the Ukrainian state church".

Organizers of the event were: Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, International Personnel Academy, the Confederation of non-state higher educational institutions of Ukraine, AliyevUkrainian-Azerbaijani Institute of Social Sciences and self-government, Holy Apostles spiritual and educational center and NGO "Ukrainian Assembly of doctors in public administration".

The conference was opened by Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Vice-rector for scientific and educational work of IAPM Mykola Holovaty, noting the relevance of the conference topic.

"Firstly, there are two major institutions that influence formation of the society - the State and the Church, and secondly, the need to discuss philosophical, theological and practical aspects of church and state arises from the real transformations in particular, changes in the status of social institutions in society, and also, according to the latest sociological research, media and the Church are the most influential in the formation of opinions in modern society, fourth, there is a problem of definition of the Church's status in society today," - said Nikolai Holovaty.

Also Rector of IAPM Nikolai Kurko said a welcoming speech, he stressed the relevance of the conference topics:

"We see what is happening in today's society: there are bills that have an ambiguous perception on the part of the church and the state in general. The Church has always been, is and will be the focus of society and the public, because it is an integral part of our life".

During the plenary session heard a number of meaningful reports from the leading Ukrainian scientists and specialists of different branches of knowledge:

  • "The Church and the State as a philosophical concepts: the relationship or the opposite?" by Doctor of Philosophy, Head of the Department of Philosophy of UAISNS IAPM Yuri Melkov;
  • "Peculiarities of interaction between the State and the Church: Past and Present" by PhD in Public Administration, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Public Administration UAISNS IAPM, President of NGO "Ukrainian Assembly of doctors in public administration," Eugene Romanenko;
  • "Catechesis and Education in the thoughts of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr as a factor of cultural enrichment of the Ukrainian society", by the Archpriest, Associate Professor of Ukrainian Orthodoxy and Theology, UAISNS IAPM, abbot of the temple in Jerusalem, Secretary of the liturgical commission of the Kyiv Diocese Dmitry Garchuka;
  • "Religion and Education in Ukraine: the contours of the interaction of" by Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Public Administration and Self-government UAISNS IAPM Yuri Surmin;
  • "Cooperation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian state in the social thought of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Volodymyr" by Archpriest, Doctor of Theological Sciences, PhD in Political Science, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Orthodoxy and theology UAISNS IAPM Dionysius Martyshin.

"The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is guided by the principles of cooperation and dialogue between church and state. Church's mission is to witness the modern state of civilization and limits of the salvation of the human soul. The social doctrine of the Church is the link between politics, society and theology of the Orthodox Church. Therefore, the main task of social teachings of the Orthodox Church and the political ideology of Ukraine in the theological motivation of interaction of church and state, civil society and overcoming the totalitarian ideology", - said Fr Dionysius Martyshin.

According to the results of scientific and practical conference book of abstracts will be published.
