Cossack Ukraine: Memory of the Centuries of History

13 October 2017 13:01

For the third year in a row on October 14, the Day of the Defender of Ukraine is officially celebrated in one of the great Orthodox holidays of the Ukrainian Cossacks - the Cossack Pokrov (Protection of the Blessed Virgin).

On the eve of the holidays of students of the first-year students of the Danube branch of IAPM, they were invited to the library-branch number 4 of the CBS for adults at the roundtable "Ukraine Cossack: Memory of the Centuries of History". All those present remembered the heroes, defenders of the Fatherland, defenders of rights and beliefs, customs and dignity of everyone living under the heavens of Ukraine. Those who stood at the sources of the formation of Ukrainian statehood, the establishment of the ideals of freedom and democracy.

The library staff Svetlana Kosyychuk and Galina Zibirna have prepared interesting material on the history of the origin and existence of the Zaporizhzhya Sich, illustrating the narrative of documentary and feature films.

Ivan Naumovich Myshullin, a representative of the modern Cossacks, the Bessarabian Cossack Regiment of the URC SBU, the ataman of the Cossack village Nova Nekrasovka, and Ivan Evgenievich Tatarinov, a young scientist, teacher of the history of the IDU, were invited to the meeting with the young people. Ivan Tatarinov spoke about interesting facts from the history of the Cossacks, the life of the hetmans of Ukraine, the Zadunaysky Sich, the Danube Cossack troops - the organizations of the Zaporozhian Cossacks in 1775-1828 in the territory of the Ottoman Empire in the mouth of the Danube.

Ivan Naumovich Myshullin interestingly and brilliantly told about the history and culture of the Old Believers of Bessarabia, the relay of the Cossack traditions. In the reading room of the library there was a march of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, a Ukrainian Cossack song "Going Cossack by the Danube".

The students responded to the questions, revealing awareness of the history of Ukraine and their native land. But many things turned out to be new when a real Cossack dressed in historical clothing appeared before them. Ivan Tatarinov spoke about the traditions and customs of the Cossacks, demonstrated the clothes of a Cossack - a warrior of the XVII-XVIII centuries. All those who wished could touch the Cossack arms. And the student Ivan Posta from a simple statistician became for all this true Cossack, kind and sincere, embodying the best traits of the people's image.

The invited guests got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "The glorious ways of the Ukrainian Cossacks, thematic shelves" Pylyp Orlyk - the creator of the first constitution of Ukraine "(to the 345th anniversary of the birth of a Ukrainian political, state, military, hetman of Ukraine, poet, publicist) and" Ordering Ataman Antin Golovaty "(to the 285th anniversary of the birth of the Cossack Ataman of the Black Sea Cossacks).

Of the recommended literature, special interest was inspired by books on the history of the Danube Cossacks (Reference book "Cossacks born in the Odessa region" - Odesa, 2004; Bachinsky AD "Sich Zadunayskaya 1775-1828" - Odessa, 1994) and works of contemporary Ukrainian writers (Collection of Osip Makovey and Bohdan Lepsky "The Cossack Kind is not a Translation! Let's Remember, My Brother..." - Donetsk, 2012; Lotoshevsky V. "The Last Ataman. Tsar Intrigue": novel.K., 2009; collection of prose by Andriyana Kashchenko "The Great Sich To glory, to death, to God "- Donetsk, 2011).

The glory of the freedom-loving Ukrainian ancestors, the unceasing will of the glorious Cossacks, is still alive. Many of us today wear Cossack surnames and do not know about it. Through the Cossacks we all created our history, and each of us is not only involved, but also responsible for it.

So all Cossacks are on holiday! We wish you good health, invincible will for victory and patriotic spirit, which will help to overcome any obstacles! We wish all happiness, health, inspiration for the revival of the best national traditions, fruitful work for the good of the people, for the sake of the glory of Izmail and all Ukraine.

Happiness, peace and kindness to every heart and every home!
