On November 23, the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management hosted events to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. The commemoration of the victims of the Great Famine in Ukraine began at the memorial sign "White Angel". This monument was one of the first in the memory of the victims of terrible famine in the independent Ukraine.

The events began with the prayer of Archpriest Dionysius.

The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Educational Work of the IAPM Mykola Holovaty reminded students about the terrible tragedy of the Ukrainian people.

- There are many different events in the history of Ukraine, which are remembered not only for our people, but also for the whole world. To my great regret, there are unique tragedies. One of such tragedies was the Holodomor of 1932-1933. In this Holodomor more than 10 million Ukrainians perished. My mother, who was then 17 years old, told me how he learned in the morning that the girls with whom they were walking in the evening died. The situation in Ukraine was threatening: the communist government required collectivization and the establishment of collective farms. Peasants opposed. Joseph Stalin ordered an order to fight the Ukrainian peasantry, and local authorities began to execute this order - to dig food from peasant farms. The entire village was killed, "said Mykola Holovaty.

After the speech, Nikolai Fedorovich announced a moment of silence. Arthur Mamonov, chairman of the IAPM Student Council, put flowers to the monument on behalf of the students' staff.

Next, the screening of the documentary "The Great Hunger" produced by "Studio 1 + 1" in which the Holodomor witnesses about the suffering experienced by the Ukrainians took place in the Ukraine Concert Hall. Also in the film, doctors and psychologists explain what happens to a person who does not eat. So, in the first 2-3 days, a person increases his salivation and constantly wants to eat, she feels weak. At the next stage, a person is suffering from headache, although it becomes more lively, but it's not for long. After some time in the starving muscle atrophy begins, lethargy, the irreversibility of physiological processes develops. Famine leads to the fact that the body actually begins to consume itself. When a person loses 40% of the body weight, death occurs. It takes about 60 days without food.
