Intercession of the Theotokos at IAPM
Over many years, students, staff, together with the leadership of the Academy gathered at the square of Knowledge at the celebration dedicated to one of the twenties (that is, the great) holidays - the Protection of the Blessed Virgin.
The holiday began near the chapel of St. George the Winner. Doctor of theology Father Dionysius sent a solemn prayer.
After the flags were issued and the National Anthem of Ukraine was presented, the rector of the IAUP Mykola Nestorovich Kurko addressed the audience.
In a speech, he focused the attention of the participants on the fact that the Intercession - a holiday both religious and national. On this day, we honor the glorious Ukrainian Cossacks, whose patron saint is the Virgin. And from 2014, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine, we celebrate the state holiday - Day of the defender of Ukraine.
The rector, commemorating the brave warriors who died in the battles for the independence and territorial integrity of our state, announced a moment of silence.
As part of the festivities, the winners of sports competitions that took place during the holiday "Debut of the first-year student" were awarded diplomas and prizes. And the participants of the student amateur delighted themselves with the Ukrainian songs.
At the end of the celebration of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin, the performance of the artists of the Equestrian theater "Ukrainian Cossacks", which added a national color and extreme event, demonstrated a skilful riding, perfect possession of weapons and whips, and bright Cossack humor.
