In the IAPM Odessa Institute VIII Traditional debate was held
September 16 at the IAPM Odessa Institute was held VIII "Traditional debate of student's scientific clubs" Themis" and "M: Ango" on the theme:" Elegant wedding: PRO ET CONTRA» (analysis of the problem in terms of morality, law, economics, religion, psychology) .
The debate are held at the initiative of the Club "Themis" from 2009. In previous years, during the debate were discussed issues of gender relations and legalization of prostitution in Ukraine; GMO issues; operation manager in a crisis: "What should be guided by the top manager in the management of the company: legal or personal expediency on your own?"; the problem of abortion in the world today with a video presentation of the NGO "Revival" on abortion as the killing of a person; the ratio of business, law and spirituality; youth participation in politics; popular culture.
Two groups of "wranglers" of the Club presented "Management" and "Economy", on the one hand, and the "Jurisprudence" - on the other, and held the same position (by the "six hats" method of compartmentalization), which is determined by drawing lots on annual Student conference in December annualy - "for" or "against". Traditionally legislators sit on the right, and the managers on the left. Moreover, the independent jury was introduced from 2011 for the determination of question whether the debate rules are broken and which group of "wranglers" has demonstrated the best qualities in the debate.
The debate has two objectives - educational and scientific. In terms of learning objectives - students must demonstrate knowledge and skills of debate, argument of thought, selection of evidence-based facts. During the debate it is necessary to adhere to the principle of separation of thinking, regardless of personal opinion, this is important in a professional lawyer activity, as well as heads of organizations, businesses and any manager. In terms of scientific objectives - students must use intelligent materials of deep research in fields of public administration, law, political science, economics, history, culture, sociology, religious studies, local history, geography, psychology. You should carefully prepare for the debates! Team members should not go to the position of the counterparty in any case, even if their views coincide with the personal opinions of members of the other team.
The current scientific debate began with performances of club leaders. Deputy Head of the Law Department, Senior lecturer in law, Scientific Director of the Club "Themis", Associate Professor Zolotareva O.A. told about the peculiarities of Ukrainian traditional wedding, and reminded the rules of the debate. Problems of organization of the modern wedding was analyzed by PhD in Economics, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics and Management, Scientific Director of the Club "M: Ango" Moroz D.G. Team members were presented - 5 students (3-5 courses) of each club. An independent jury - Volyansky Vadim - Chairman of the jury, Doctor of Political Sciences, Deputy Director of the IAPM Olympiad, scientific director of "Aсademia 'Club; Bogan Sergei - Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the department of Psychology and Scientific disciplines; Father Alexander (Alexander Filippov) - senior lecturer in psychology and scientific disciplines, a psychologist, a famous volunteer, priest of the institute chapel.
4 issues were discussed, in which jurists had to defend the position "pro", while managers and economists - "contra":
1) Do people need a wedding, is it possible to live happily in a civil marriage?
2) Why do people arrange "elegant wedding", when it is economically unprofitable for honeymooners families?
3) Religion and "magnificent wedding": pro et contra.
4) Psychological aspects of wedding: make a gorgeous celebration or just get together with loved ones at the table?
During active discussion interesting ideas and arguments from the point of view of morality and religion, economic aspects, law and psychology, and examples of life were expressed. The jury was divided in opinion as to the credibility of the teams, as a result - a friendly "draw."
Each year the debate is played not only as a platform for developing knowledge, analytical and other skills, education of youth, but also it has become a highlight in the student life of the Academy. Clubs have already begun to think of interesting and relevant topic for the following Debate 2017.
