Knight of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd and 2nd class. Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Participant of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In January 2015, he arrived in Artemivsk with a brigade. On the 20th of January 2015, at positions near the village of Sanzharivka, Artemivsk (now Gorlovka) district of Donetsk region, the tank platoon of Bozhka V.M. fought with the enemy. From the burning tank of Bozhka V.M., the crew conducted accurate fire, destroying three vehicles, a tank and enemy personnel.
On February 12, 2015, the tank platoon under the command of Bozhka V.M. together with units of the 79th separate airmobile and 30th mechanized brigades stormed the village of Logvynove, Artemivsky (now Gorlovka) district of Donetsk region, where there were enemy positions. Conducting accurate fire and successfully maneuvering according to the scheme "departed, shot, hid", being under the cover of the armor of two knocked out BMPs, the crew of the T-64 tank knocked out 3 Russian T-72 tanks.
In his native village of Levkiv, Zhytomyr region, in June 2016, one of the streets was named after Vasyl Bozhko, which is a sign of recognition of his heroic contribution to the defense of Ukraine.
